Podcast Strategy Can Wait - But This Can’t | #276

Episode 276

Do you read books just to hit a number each year? Or do you soak in a select few so you can implement, implement, implement?

When I hit record this week with my neatly outlined episode, I sensed something was... off. The timing didn’t feel right, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.

And then it hit me.

I knew I had to pause the power-packed guesting episode I had planned (don’t worry - it’s coming next week). Because sometimes your perfectly mapped-out plan gets hijacked. And by hijacked, I mean gently, yet unmistakably, redirected by God.

If your podcast (and business) feel strung out on tactics and starving for purpose, lean in. I’m sharing the detour He walked me through -- a detour that pulled me back to the foundation of why I even grabbed the mic in the first place.

I’m confronting a few excuses I didn’t realize I was still hiding behind… and offering you a challenge that could flip the whole second half of your 2025.

(P.S. Stay to the end; I tease next week’s play-by-play on turning guest spots into revenue streams...because purpose and profit can absolutely share a mic.)

Podcast Strategy Can Wait - But This Can’t | #276

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I am going to do something unusual today. I had this whole plan for what this episode was going to be, the one I was going to release, episode number 276 of Simplify Podcasting. And I'm not going to do it. I'm going to hold that one off for the next week. For this week, what is happening?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: What I'm compelled to share with you is what has been confronting me over the last several days in conversations I've had with people. If you are interested in learning what that is, I'd love for you to stick around. I'm Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist. I am founder of the Virtual Podcast School. The reason I founded that school is because I know that I know that I know we need each other in the podcasting community.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: We must come together to support one another, to love on one another, to encourage one another. And the only reason we know how to do that, is because of who we serve, and as I reflect on many episodes, I've realized that I've been so focused on tactics and support that I've left out the One who gives all of the ideas and all of the wherewithal to allow me to come to you week after week after week.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I love podcasting and I'm so grateful for you. I am so grateful for this opportunity to be in your earbuds. I absolutely enjoy when you join me in community, when you come inside the virtual podcast school, when you send me an email and say, "Hey Jen, this is where I am. This is what I'm working on. Do you have any recommendations? Do you have some support for me?"

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I love when you book a Power Hour so we can work specifically on what it is that you want your podcast to do for you. So in today's episode, I'm going back to the [00:02:00] basics of podcasting and I'd love for you to join me. Stay tuned. This is a short one, a sweet one, and one of the most important episodes so far in 2025.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Do you know where the vegetable basket of the Americas is? In the vegetable basket, more than 90% of the population is Christian. All of the bars and the jails have closed for good. Crime is non-existent.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Almolonga, Guatemala is an agrarian community and it produces phenomenal crops and ships them all over central America.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Poverty and unemployment have been eradicated. This extraordinary story has been extensively documented in numerous books and in the video transformation. , The reason I'm familiar with Almolonga Guatemala is due to Ed Silvoso author of Anointed for Business.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: He shares his ideas about reconciliation in the marketplace and talks about when enough people are swept up into transformation, a city can be changed.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: He shares: when sinners are set free from the control of the devil, they cease to be controlled by sin, are filled with the Holy Spirit and begin to help others, and the kingdom of God becomes evident. This is exactly what happened in the transformation in Almolonga, Guatemala.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: There was a marketplace revival. Almolonga is a living example of Second Chronicles 7:14. I'm sure you know the verse. If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Ed pictures this as a triangle, on [00:04:00] one side we see God's people repenting for their sins. On the other side is God's response of forgiveness, and on the third side, the land is healed. The healing of the land not only resulted in extraordinary conversions with 90% of the population becoming Christian, but it also formally turned arid land into fields that produced the richest of harvests!

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: As if to leave no doubt that such prosperity is the result of God's blessing. The earth's extraordinary fertility stops right on the border of the city. If you have not read Ed's book, anointed for Business, be sure you pick it up. I'll be sure to link it in the show notes. What does Almolonga Guatemala have to do with podcasting?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Everything.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: When we bring God into our businesses, our businesses behave differently because we are behaving differently. Not that long ago in one of the podcast bootcamps, Terry Ann and I took the time to go through a section in this book where we anointed our workspace. We actually entered into our offices and made declarations over our spaces.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: We declared what we believed God wanted us to declare over our businesses. We prayed for protection. We prayed for clarity. We prayed for wisdom. We prayed for so many things, and we did this while we were on the Zoom room together. We did it privately because we turned off our, um, microphones and our cameras, and we did it on our own, and then we came back together to share how powerful that experience was for each of us.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I'm inviting you to go back to the beginning, not just the why of your business, the WHO of your business, were you [00:06:00] called to do what you're doing? Are you so busy forcing things that you've lost sight of the call? Are you wondering what to do next?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Sometimes we get so caught up in all of the options that are available, the challenges, the opt-ins, the downloads, the other podcasts to listen to that. We forget to listen to the voice of the one who called us to this to begin with.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Here's my invitation for you, and it's an invitation for myself as well.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: It's to slow down and take the time to praise God for who he is, not to ask him for anything. To first praise him for who he is. He is holy. He's righteous. He's the creator of every single thing. He knows every hair on your head, and he knows every ache in your heart. He loves you. He wants to draw you to him, and you need to say yes, yes, Lord.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Here I am Lord. This is a conviction I'm experiencing as we're getting ready to approach the second half of the year. What is it that God has called you to do?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: How would you articulate what it is God has called you to do?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: First we praise. I. knowing who he is and what he has called us to do. It's time for some reflection to create our own triangle, if you will.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: To call upon the Lord and to acknowledge that we have fallen short. There are things we have done in our business that are not serving the kingdom.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: There are shortcuts or half cuts or confusing cuts that we've made that have not fulfilled the call because we've doubted, because we've [00:08:00] been unclear, because we've lost sight of the One who is leading us.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: And then, receive the Lord's forgiveness. Receive what he has for you. He, uh, the Lord tells us in Psalm 1 0 3, one of my favorite psalms.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: It's become one of my favorites since it's also one of my husband's favorite Psalms that as far as the east is from the west, he removes your sin from you, so you will not remember it anymore. There's no need to continue to bring back up. We, we don't need to get, uh, downright historical. Okay? We don't.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Instead, we need to be forward thinking. Then the Lord will heal our land. The Lord will heal your business. The Lord will bless your business when you are obedient to him. I needed to take the time to slow down. I needed to take the time to think, okay, where is God at work in my business? He gave me an audacious goal for 2025.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I've had several conversations with some key accountability partners who I cherish greatly. Thank you so much. You know who you are. I, I, it's just been a reminder that God gave me the call and I don't know the how, but God never gives the how. Have you noticed that? He never gives the how? He gives the call.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: And if you're like me, you do what Moses did, and you come up with five excuses about: I am not the right guy, I'm not the right person, I'm not the right one. I don't have the skills. I don't know how. What will people think of me? Well, those things don't matter. The call is what matters.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: So this is me rooting for you, lifting you up, inviting you to really think about how the Lord has anointed you from marketplace ministry so you can bear fruit and grow the kingdom.[00:10:00]

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: If you are working on that with your podcast, whether you host or you guest, I would love to partner with you. We know we can get more done when we work together. Simply head on over to www.coachjenrogers.com/powerhours to book a Power Hour with me so we can go back the very beginning of the dream of the call, of the reason why you said yes to podcast hosting and guesting and get very clear on what your next steps can be.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: We know that clarity comes by taking action steps. I'd love to hear what's on your heart, the direction that God is calling you to, and how you and I can work together to grow the kingdom.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: I'll be back next week with episode number 277; I'll be sharing with you how you can leverage guesting to monetize every episode. How you can track conversions from guesting on other shows, how you can get on the shows you really want to get on, how you can create connections from one guest appearance. How you don't need to be on the big shows in order to experience growth in your business.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Thank you so much for joining me today. I'm praying for you and your business. If you need specific prayer, find me on the social, send me a dm, let me know or shoot me an email and I will, I, it would be my honor to pray for you.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Alright. God bless you. I will catch you on the flip side!

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: You know, one of the things that drives people to push play on a podcast? Yes. It's your podcast name. Yes, it's your podcast Art, and yes, it's your titles and the description of your podcast. You know, what else draws people in?

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: Your reviews. If you would like a review on your podcast, you want to do a review swap? I would love to listen to your show and exchange [00:12:00] a review with you so we can help each other grow. Are you in? Let's do a review, swap and promote one another's show for the glory of God.

Jen Rogers, Podcast Strategist: You know what to do! Send me a message, respond to an email, touch base with me in the socials. I am easy to find. I would be honored to review, swap with you and hear what's on your heart in each episode. And you know what? I'll probably give you some helpful feedback too, and how you can take your show to the next level.
